Gent
Q: How did you get started with music?
A: When I was younger I used to write poetry which eventually collided with my love for music. At which point I began to put poetry to music. Then I just began to explore the depths of musical creativity as an artist.
Q: How did you decide pseudonym (stage name) as a musical artist?
A: Historically the term gentleman was not so much about being caring and kind-hearted, it was more so a title for the upper-class. If you were a gentleman it means you were higher than the average person in the ranking of society. I attributed that to the hip-hop arena feeling that I'm of a higher class than the average rappers.
Q: What is your favorite type of music?
A: I'm actually a lover of all types of music, I believe in being versatile and diverse in my taste to allow myself an open minded creativity.
Q: How have you developed from an artist from beginning to now?
A: In the beginning I was more so experimenting with what direction I wanted to go as an artist, looking for my own unique sound. I became more of a hip-hop artist due to the love of the energy and limitless creativity with hip-hop. So now, I've settled on who I am as an artist and continue to raise the bar and set a new standard in the arena of hip-hop and music.
Q: Who would you like to work with in the future and why?
A: Definitely Jay-Z because of his history and his experience. Also, Drake because of his lyrical abilities. I think he would provide a nice challenge on a track, I think we would make something really explosive. Oddly enough, Luciano Pavarotti because he's such a commanding presence in his music and so passionate and I think that it would be unexpected that the world would take notice.
Q: Who have you worked with in the past that you enjoyed and why?
A: At this point, I would definitely have to say Addor Music (Kent & Drake Murphy) because they're some of the most creative producers I've come across. Also, Damien Sullivan who is a guru at what he does which is engineering and producing.
